Friday, March 12, 2010: Sadly I had to leave The Cascade Room just moments before but I got home in time for the winning goal. I was getting ready to go to the Closing Ceremonies and while brushing my teeth, they won the game! Hilarious walk down to BC Place, walked through Granville and Nelson and actually got high-fived in the face, wasn’t prepared for the onslaught of high-fivers!

Best scene was seeing big fans drinking beer past the RCMP and the boys in red (or blue if local cops0 didn’t even say a thing. Nice to see people in Vancouver all out getting excited over something! All in all, a great night for the city. Fun!

Saturday, March 6, 2010: I was at Refuel huddled around a lap top in the dish area with the kitchen and front of house crew and 3 guests.

Katherine: Refuel, Vancouver, BC

Friday, March 5, 2010: I was at the BC Regiment Drill Hall, hanging out with some soldiers, reservists, and veterans! It was incredibly patriotic, especially when you are surrounded by tanks and images of Canada’s heroes.

Friday, March 5, 2010: I was at the Earls on Broadway and Laurel with a few tables of friends. We were banging on the table so loud during the game our cutlery was bouncing. The goal happened so fast all I could remember was everyone jumping up from their seats, two hand-high-fiving, hugging, flag waving and screaming. There were at least three O Canada’s belted out after the win by everyone in the restaurant…….ridiculous.

Friday, March 5, 2010: Brilliant. I want that T. Clicking now.

I was next to Rob, Dave, PJ and Dave’s entire family of 82, standing on those beautiful booth seats at The Cascade, where I am likely never to stand again, which is perfectly fine by me, screaming, jumping, screaming, high-fiving, screaming, releasing that insane anxiety (oh what we do for hockey), all the while filming the masses on my crappy iphone, capturing Nick explode champers all over the chaotic crowd and I think getting Dave on film with something like a:

“F*#king – Sydney – F*#king – Crosby!”. Classic.

Ah damn, I gotta say it: I believe.

Megan: Vancouver, Canada

Friday, March 5, 2010: I was in the Russky Dom, otherwise known as Science World. People were crowded around every tv, and when it was scored a big cheer arose!

Friday, March 5, 2010: I was in Sydney Australia watching Sidney perform a miracle. Dreams do come true…

Friday, March 5, 2010: When Sidney scored the goal that was heard around the world I was at the Parkside Victoria Resort & Spa in their private theatre hosting a party for clients and contest winners. Check out the photos and video from the event here. What a fantastic moment for Canada and Canadians.

Thursday, March 4, 2010: I was at work, so I had to DVR the game. Laying in bed, watching the game the next morning, I was elated when my Team USA tied things late in the third. When I saw Sidney score in overtime, at first it was a disappointment, but sitting home alone down here in the states allowed me to quietly realize that I wasn’t even that mad.

There’s going to be another Winter Games in 4 years, but my love of hockey transcends my love of country, and when will there be another Sidney Crosby? My hat’s off to the Kid and the boys in red.

Thursday, March 4, 2010: When Sidney scored I was at Cascade Room with my boyfriend & friend. Amazing time – the servers were fantastic in spite of having to deal with a rowdy, demanding (thirsty) crowd; the huge screen at the back really brought it to life; and the ‘family/community’ atmosphere of Cascade made it the most memorable sports viewing experience of my life. We watched three of the big Canada Olympic hockey games at Cascade and each time I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else (…..OK, well maybe actually being at the game would have been nice…..but Cascade was a perfect alternative). Thanks everyone!!

Thursday, March 4, 2010: I was at a sports bar in Vancouver, one block from Canada hockey place, hanging onto my husband (who is from the same town as Sid the Kid btw) surrounded by 40 of our friends including other fellow Nova Scotians.

When we scored the whole place leapt onto the tables – dishes and glasses everywhere! There was so much signing and screaming and stomping and hugging. One of the most exciting moments ever.

Nice work Canada!

Thursday, March 4, 2010: I was in West Van on Sentinel Hill with my family, eating nachos and drinking beer. We yelled so hard that we nearly broke the windows.

Andrew: Scout Magazine.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010: After a week of hectic partying (four gigs in five days, including Sloan with 150 other people, hanging out next to Ovechkin & Federov, running into Brendan Shanahan, my hero – and two guys from INXS – in a bar with Burton Cummings’ band) and far too many fermented grains, I got a killer cold. Like, a KILLER COLD. So on the last bloody weekend of the Olympics, I couldn’t even NyQuil the crap out of it. I was DONE. And sad I couldn’t go out. But I put an inflatable mattress in my office, grabbed my duvet, Quatchi and like three different versions of MukMuk. I couldn’t cheer cos my throat was ragged so I strapped a pair of bear bells to Quatchi’s arm (he’s the goalie of the gang) and shook him every time we won. Then he (and I) started fretting until………7.40 in Overtime! And for those 7 minutes and 39 seconds, I stood up, literally holding my computer screen. After which point I went outside in my pajamas to listen to the horns honking. It was like New Year’s Eve x amazing!

Wednesday, March 3, 2010: We crammed into a friends TV room. The golden goal is a blur of hi-fives and hugs, but Amy did get a video of our reactions 7 minutes and 68 seconds earlier in the game, when Parise tied it up: View on Facebook.

Paul – Vancouver, Canada

Wednesday, March 3, 2010: I was on a plane to New Zealand and missed it all !!

Thank god for VCR’s….
